Xiaguan State-owned No. 3 Tea Factory was established in 1950. They also have a long and rich tradition in making tea for the Tibetan people, previous to the start of the Xiaguan Factory. Their products are reasonably priced for everyday consumption and much less commercialized than their main competitors of similar backgrounds. Their products are well-known both at home and abroad for their various types of Tuocha as diet tea, which are made with high-quality materials.

Tuocha is pressed to a tighter configuration, and the main ingredients of this product use a more advanced formula includes high-scented spring bud and strong leaves with rich tannins. Since 2001, it was first stored in our cellar warehouse for several years under close observation, then relocate to a more natural temperature and humidity environment at a suitable time. A small batch was placed In the higher temperature and humidity location and to our amazement, the taste became richer, comfortable Cha-chi with a sweeter and silky smooth sensation.

Good tea, great storage

I am familiar with many Xiaguan teas, but it’s so interesting to see how this teas trajectory and profile was changed by Yee On Tea’s storage. The result is a tea that has some wet age on the nose, but in the cup it is more rounded and lacks any significant degree of “wet storage mustiness”. It has peat mosss notes, but not any funkiness. I love this tea and the storage that created it.

2001 Xiaguan Grade A Pine Crane Raw Toucha Pu-erh Tea (Limited Stock)

Absolutely beautiful 20 something year old XG Tou. Dark and mysterious, it slowly unfurls its secrets from its hibernation as the session goes on, and if you pay attention and listen, it will tell you a wonderful story. Heavily compressed, but manageable, the choppy material has the intoxicating aroma of the storage its resided in for two decades, but its not overpowering or one sided; the storage flavor dissipates elegantly while the sweetness of the tea awakens from its slumber slowly and with intention, to reward you for your time and to celebrate this time with you. It has wonderful body in the cup, and in your body it warms you from the core and the taste lingers in your mouth for quite some time. Lovely tea.

Good taste and texture

Creamy, silky texture with sticky throat cooling huigan. Dark and Woody sweetness with some ginseng. Clean storage taste. Mild bitterness as backbone. Body warming. Comfortable to drink. Good infusability.
