A unique tea type with blending of different tea leaves to achieve an optimum taste. This is a heavier fermented version of white tea with a stronger tea taste. In ancient time, Shoumei tea aged 3 years or more were considered to have medicine value for flu prevention.

Steeping White Tea

General Guide to making a White Tea

Steep White Tea in 80~90℃. The ratio of tea to water is approximately 1:2 to 1:3. or 5 grams of tea to 125 ml. of water.

First steep for 5 to 10 sec and discard the water to clean and heat the tea leaves. Steep for 1 to 5 mins, and lengthen the time for each subsequent infusion. 

The number of infusion can range from 3 to 4 times.

Quite smoky. Wood smoke like a lapsang souchang. I'm finding this note to be dominant and not what I look for when choosing a white tea. The cost of this shoumei now makes sense. Smoke persists after rinsing, and steeping gong fu style.
